Once you start using essential oils, you'll eventually hear
about people putting them on the bottoms of their feet.
That might make you wonder...
Why the feet?
Wouldn't it make more sense to rub them in a place where the oils would be easier to smell?
Well, it turns out the bottoms of your feet are an ideal place to apply essential
oils.
That's because the bottoms of your feet are highly absorbent... due to the absence of sebaceous glands in that part of the body... which can serve as a barrier to essential oils entering your body.
To see how absorbent the soles of your feet are, just rub some therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil there, and you'll likely be able to taste it in a matter of
seconds!
Because the bottoms of the feet absorb so well, I regularly apply my oils in this location.
Most often, I use a blend containing clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary... because of the way it supports the immune system.
This is a great practice for children as well.
Not only does it help their immune systems, but
the tougher skin on the bottoms of the feet reduces the risk of any irritation from any of the oils.
Now, it's true... once you put some shoes and socks on you won't smell the oils very well.
But to get around that, just apply them other places on the body as well, like the wrists or neck.
If you're concerned about any skin irritation, simply add a little carrier oil, like a quality vegetable oil.
