Is your air freshener doing you harm?

Published: Sat, 10/07/17

I heard this on the radio just yesterday:

Students at a Baltimore high school complained of an unusual smell... and five of them were taken to the hospital for upset stomachs.

After investigating the source of this offensive smell, the hazardous material team from the fire department found the cause...

A pumpkin spice plug-in air freshener!

Wow!

I always cringe whenever I see those plugin air fresheners in use...

... because they're loaded with chemicals!

I understand why people use them...

... but hopefully a story like this will get folks thinking about how toxic these things really are!

One study of 70 air fresheners revealed that they contain over 350 chemicals and allergens...

... including benzene, formaldehyde, styrene, and phthalates.

The difficulty is that most people do not experience any immediate adverse reactions to these products... so they assume they're okay.

But the truth is...over time the chemicals in these products pose health risks to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system...

... and they're associated with allergy, immune, and respiratory problems in children, too.

So, please... take measures to avoid this source of toxicity in your home or office.

A much better alternative to these air fresheners is to diffuse quality essential oils...

... they're safe...

... they smell better...

... and they do more than just mask bad odors... they eliminate them by breaking down their molecules.
