Hi
,
You've probably noticed just as I have...
Sickness seems awfully common during this time of year.
And with all the demands that come with the holiday season, it's not surprising.
But it is possible to increase your chances of staying well by following these 7 simple practices...
Drink plenty of water...
Staying hydrated is so important when it comes to staying well... because water is essential for your body to produce
lymph, flush out toxins, and properly digest food.
So though you are plenty busy these days, take the time to drink enough water. Be sure and take water with you when you are on the go, too.
Eat nutritional foods...
Eating plenty of greens, lean protein, and healthy fats can be a great way to bolster your immunity as you seek to stay well.
Admittedly, this is harder to do with all the sweets around, but it's a discipline that's sure
to help you feel your best. Planning what you're going to eat in advance helps.
Good hand washing...
I know, your mother probably drilled this into you already, but it's worth repeating... washing your hands with soap and warm water remains an important way to protect yourself from seasonal colds and the flu.
According to the CDC, 20 seconds is the minimum amount of time you ought to scrub your hands. This 20 seconds is time
well spent.
Get enough sleep...
Studies show a lack of sleep can definitely suppress your immune system, making you more vulnerable to seasonal illnesses.
So get your rest. Determining ahead of time when you will leave a party or go to bed will help you accomplish this.
Exercise...
When you exercise, your breathing deepens and your white blood cells become more efficient, which can
play a big part in keeping your defenses up. Exercise can reduce stress too.
And the activity doesn't have to be all that strenuous either... a daily 20 minute walk can bring great benefits.
Minimize stress...
Constant stress may make you more vulnerable to illness. Though stress is impossible to avoid, it can be minimized.
In addition to sufficient rest and exercise, keeping things in perspective and creating some regular downtime for yourself
are simple but powerful ways to keep stress under control.
Apply essential oils...
Essential oils do much more than just provide pleasing aromas. The unique properties of essential oils are able to help keep your body functioning at peak performance as well.
My favorite ways to use essential oils to support the immune system is to diffuse them or apply them directly to my body.
The holiday season provides wonderful opportunities for
enjoyment.
But you can only make the most of them if you're healthy.
So put these simple measures into practice to help you stay well.
For Your Best Health,
Laura
