Ever get frustrated with the
pace of progress?
Well there's a reason God doesn't let what we envision as possible become reality overnight.
When God was preparing His people for the Promised Land He told them He wouldn't drive out their enemies within a year... but that He'd do it "little by little" (Ex.23:29-30).
Why did God choose to take His
time?
Because He was concerned that if He drove out Israel's adversaries all at once, the beasts of the field would overwhelm them.
In other words, He knew if He gave them everything right away, they wouldn't be able to handle it.
The same "little by little" principle applies to you and me.
God knows if He gave us all the good things He has for us quickly we wouldn't be able to handle it.
And beasts would overtake us.
What beasts, you say?
The beasts of our own desires that take us away from God.
And the beasts who are this world's idolaters
who think we can build a civilization without the Lord.
So... when it comes to progress, we shouldn't worry too much about the pace.
Instead, we should be absorbed with living fruitful lives.
And becoming the kind of people who can handle the blessings God has in store for those who trust and obey
Him.
