I’m sure you’ve noticed
there’s a lot of talk about personal empowerment these days.
And I’m sure you’ve noticed too the idea that to be empowered you must assert yourself and do what’s in your best interest.
By cultural standards this certainly rings true… but it’s actually one of our generation’s biggest lies…
Let me show you what I
mean…
Deanna Falchook was living her dream as a Disney Princess.
Five times each day she’d perform by singing and dancing in front of Disney World’s Cinderella Castle.
But then at 18 she got pregnant.
And she believed to keep her dream alive, she needed to empower herself by
choosing to abort her baby… so she did.
After Deanna’s abortion, she tried to keep singing about dreams coming true in front of the castle.
But she just couldn’t cope with her abortion decision.
She wanted to die.
So she quit being a princess… as she discovered that her choice to
empower herself actually took her vitality away.
Fortunately, Deanna eventually found healing through God’s grace.
And today she’s being used by Him to communicate the truth that abortion doesn’t empower at all.
But the message in Deanna’s story isn’t just for women vulnerable to abortion.
It’s for all of us, in that it shows…
Disconnecting from God and empowering ourselves against His will is sure to weaken us.
But true power — to live the kind of life God has for us — only comes by following Him and walking in
his grace.
