My grandma used to say "idle hands are
the devil's workshop."
That is... if you don't occupy yourself with something useful, you're likely to get into trouble.
Your grandma may have said the same thing... as this phrase was quite popular in the past.
The saying is certainly biblical.
Remember King David?
When he should have been out leading his countrymen in battle, for some reason he stayed home...
And while there, he was tempted... and
fell prey to adultery... and eventually murder.
It goes to show...
Though some aspects of our calling may be difficult... and even risky... staying active doing our duty can be a lot safer than doing nothing.
Finding yourself idle is a dangerous thing.
