About "the good old days..."

Published: Fri, 01/12/18

Ever wish you could go back and experience an earlier, seemingly better time of life?

Be careful.

God say don't go there.

"Do not say, 'Why is it that the former days were better than these?' For it is not from wisdom that you ask about this" (Eccl.7:10).

And why is it that yearning for the past isn't wise?

Because God's work in prior days is done. And there's no turning back.

His story moves forward. And the time He is at work is now.

Sure, we ought to learn from the past. And be thankful for the blessings God gave there.

But there's no point in idealizing an earlier era.

God calls us to be faithful in the midst of what He is doing today... cultivating and ruling the way things are now.
