The case for Christmas trees...

Published: Thu, 12/21/17

It happens every year.

Debates arise in some Christian circles about whether or not Christmas trees should be used.

Some argue they shouldn’t because pagans have turned trees into idols.

Yet the best arguments point out that the Bible is full of symbolism — think ‘tree of life’ — and as long nobody’s worshiping a Christmas tree, there’s nothing wrong with using an evergreen to symbolize the everlasting life brought to us through Christ’s birth.

… It should also be pointed out that our twisted hearts are capable of turning anything into an idol… like money and sex. Does that mean we should cut them out of our lives too?

As I see it, “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it” (Ps.24:1)… so the more we can take His creation and use it to reflect His glory the better.

It’s all part of ruling an cultivating the earth for Him.
