Why is Christmas such a hopeful time?

Why is Christmas such a hopeful time?

Because it celebrates the reversal of the curse instituted at the Fall of mankind (Gen.3:17-18).

That's why in the popular Christmas carol 'Joy to the World' we sing:

"No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make his blessings flow Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as, the curse is found."

With each passing Christmas we have reason to be encouraged as Christ's redemption extends itself over our fallen world.

And that's something worth singing about.
