FYI, I will not be sending out emails next week. Have a
great Thanksgiving!
Now, on to today's message...
These days there are statistics for just about everything.
Did you know there are even statistics that measure a
country's level of corruption?
Countries that score well -- and are less corrupt -- have high access to
information, stronger standards of integrity, and independent judicial systems.
Whereas countries that score poorly -- and are more corrupt -- are plagued by things like lack of trust, bribery and extortion.
Now here's the really interesting thing...
The countries that score better and have relatively less corruption are those that
have been nurtured by the Bible at some point in their history.
Now I point this out for a simple reason...
Many Christians are timid when it comes to applying the Bible to public life.
They are fine applying it privately...
But when it comes to applying life to society as a
whole, they're afraid... and they act is if it's wrong to bring biblical principles to bear.
Yet these stats about corruption illustrate that the Bible needs to be applied everywhere.
And that's exactly what Jesus tells us to do when He commands us to disciple the nations (Mt. 28:18-20).
