Do you observe All Saints Day (Nov.1)... or All Souls Day
(Nov.2)?
It’s pretty likely you do not.
But even if you don’t, I do hope you remember this, as you seek to follow the Lord:
There is a long train of faithful believers that have gone before you.
The book of Hebrews goes out of its way to tell us about heroes of the
faith.
And the great cloud of witnesses that surround us urges us to lay aside the sin that so easily entangles us and run our race with endurance.
So you, my friend, are not alone in your struggle to be faithful.
Those who have already run their course were tempted and challenged just as we are.
And now it’s our turn… to stand on their shoulders… and push Christ’s kingdom forward.
And we can only do this as we look to Him… who endured the cross and now rules over everything from God’s right hand.
You’ve got a race to run today…
… it’s your leg of a relay race.
Run it well.
And may the witness of those already departed encourage you…
As though they’re saying:
“If we finished our own races through history by faith, you can do it too!”
