Feeling stuck? This could help you...

Recently I was feeling stuck about my direction in life.

Due to prior decisions and commitments I couldn't go backwards...

... but the way forward was murky... and I didn't know what to do.

The whole situation was starting to make me anxious.

There I was... full of hopes and aspirations... but pretty much clueless about what to do next!

I just wasn't getting the direction I needed.

-- Ever been there? --

Well then I came upon Psalm 139 in my daily Bible reading.

This psalm is all about God's deep knowledge of us as individuals.

It tells us how God...

... knows when we sit down and rise up.

... understands our thoughts from afar.

... is intimately acquainted with all our ways.

... constantly has us in His presence... no matter where we might be...

... and has skillfully made us who we are.

As I was reading these words... and others in the psalm... one verse especially jumped out at me:

"You hem me in behind and before,
And you lay your hand upon me"

(Psalm 139:5)

As soon as I read this verse I stopped feeling trapped...

... because I knew God had hemmed me in, and had me right where He wanted me.

All I needed to do was relax, trust Him, and faithfully follow Him in whatever small step He wanted me to take next.

And... remarkably... when this happened, He soon made my way clear.

If you're feeling uncertain about where to turn next, don't despair.

God's got you where He wants you.

Keep looking to Him... with this as your prayer:

"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way" (Ps.139:23-24).
