The art of biblical pushback...

Published: Mon, 10/23/17

Ever find yourself in a situation where you know something is wrong… but you’re reluctant to do anything about it?

Well this might encourage you to take some action:

During the early days of America’s history, the Puritan clergy looked down upon commerce.

In fact, they actually created a general dislike for profitable businesses.

At first, the Puritan merchants endured this.

But then they pushed back and began to question why their success was frowned upon.

Afterall, the Bible definitely teaches that one of the blessings of faithfulness is prosperity…

And… if the merchants prospered themselves, they would be in a better position to do good… by helping their neighbors… and the community at large.

Well… we can be thankful the merchants pushed back.

Because… as the clergy and the merchants interacted further on this, they laid the foundation for the most prosperous society the world has ever known…

… And a society that has used its prosperity to accomplish a tremendous amount of good.

You can find out more of the story how the Puritan clergy and merchants related in an article posted at Affluent Christian Investor.

But I mention this bit of history here to encourage you to do one thing:

Give a little biblical pushback when it’s needed!

You never know how much good it might accomplish.
