Hey.
Do you want to have the greatest impact you can with the life God has given you?
Then you’ve GOT to beware of three enemies.
… Especially these days.
The first enemy to guard yourself against is pessimism.
If you take the attitude that everything is destined to get worse and worse, discouragement is sure to smother you.
You’ll be too gloomy to take your most important actions… and you’ll waste your gifts.
The second enemy to watch out for is fatalism.
Fatalism is the belief that no matter what you do, it
won’t make any difference for the better.
Think this way and all you’ll do is passively watch the world go by… as you tsk tsk its condition.
The third enemy to dodge is escapism.
Escapism is the approach to life that says, “If the world keeps getting worse–and there’s nothing I can do about it–I might as well enjoy all the diversions
I can.”
Escapism feels good, but it’ll ruin you.
It’ll lead you to pursue what’s trivial, rather than what matters.
Pessimism, fatalism, and escapism all work powerfully together to immobilize you.
… Sort of like an unholy trinity.
And their goal is to keep you from having the kind of influence on the world God has in mind for you.
Yet, this trio can be defeated when we resist its lies.
And remember that the Father has sent His Son to renew the world as we serve Him in the power of the Spirit.
