Some of the most important instructions God gives us
about how to live our lives are in the first few chapters of the Bible.
For example:
In Genesis 2 the Lord tells Adam to "keep" the garden.
This means he was supposed to watch over, guard, preserve, protect... and do whatever else God told him... while he was in the garden.
Adam,
of course, failed at this.
Yet we, in Christ, are charged to do the same...
... we're to keep the 'garden' God puts us in.
But how?
... We aren't in the Garden of Eden.
The answer comes from looking at other
scriptures... like this one:
"Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do" (Deut. 29:9).
Notice that word 'keep'?
It's the same word God used with Adam in the garden.
And it shows that we keep the garden today by abiding in
God's Word as we serve Him in our specific fields of endeavor.
So don't forget...
God's Word doesn't just apply to our personal, family, our church lives...
It applies to your specific calling as well.
In fact, it's in applying God's Word there that you faithfully keep the garden
He's called you to.
And it's also in this way that He causes you to prosper.
