The other night our church had a guest
speaker.
He noted that Jesus was the heir of the nations, but that His inheritance was something He had to ask for.
He based this on Psalm 2:8, which says:
"Ask of Me, and I will surely give the
nations as Thine inheritance,
And the very ends of the earth as Thy possession."
The speaker went on to say that our Father apparently likes to be asked for His gifts to be given...
And if He intends to give the nations to Christ... and all who are in Christ... it's not too much for us
to ask that He would give us our county for Him.
Great point!
And I'd take it even further...
If Jesus is the heir of the nations, it's not too much to ask that His lordship would be realized in whatever
realm He's entrusted to us...
... whether it be our home, neighborhood, office, city, etc...
So we should start asking.
Our unbelief and paltry view of Christ's lordship will tend to get in the way at
first...
But we should start asking for what God wants to give us...
And what is ours through His Son.
