Recently a friend of mine posted the following question on social media:
“What do you think is the biggest problem we face in the world today?”
The answers were fairly predictable: terrorism, hunger, racism, economic inequality, accessibility to health care, etc...
The interesting thing is, just about everyone
has an idea of what the world's biggest problem is... and it often includes an expectation that the government should fix it!
But here's what we must remember...
The greatest problem in the world today is the same as it's been since Adam ate of the forbidden fruit.
... And that's our refusal to believe God's Word and apply it to all
of life... and instead choose to suppress His truth and live independently from Him.
This is the root problem.
Every other problem we face flows from this.
The good news is that Christ has come to reclaim the world and renew it.
And He calls you and me to be part of the process
as we abide in the truth in the places He calls us.
‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’ (Matthew 4:4).
