As I write there’s a lot of buzz about the solar eclipse about to occur — which in some areas of the country will be a total eclipse.
Amidst the buzz there are those who are claiming that the eclipse is a special sign from God… of some impending judgment or war… or that we’re in the last days.
I don’t believe this is the case… since this is an entirely predictable event in God’s natural world.
But… I do believe the eclipse puts an exclamation point on something God is always telling us…
Every day God uses His creation to tell us of His glory (Psalm 19:1-6)… and
reveal His great power and divine nature (Romans 1:20)…
… so that we are without excuse when it comes to following Him.
And with the eclipse, He’s giving us this same message… just a little louder.
It’s
an amazing thing that God created the universe in such a way that the size of the sun and the moon and the distance between the two are just right for a total eclipse to take place.
It shows us He knew what He was doing when He created all things…
… and it also reminds us it’s with the same power
and wisdom that He designed us to rule and cultivate what He’s made here on earth.
In a world where there’s so much chaos, that’s definitely a reminder we need.
