Are you guarding your garden?

Don't tell my wife... but I found a snake in the house.

It happens in Florida... and it was just a little one...

... but still significant enough to send my wife in a panic.

So... like a good husband, I quickly dispatched the wriggling critter.

Now... when I say 'good husband,' I'm not joking around.

Adam's great failure in the Garden of Eden was that he failed to guard it -- and protect his wife from the serpent -- as he should have.

That's why he's considered to be responsible for the Fall -- even though Eve took the first bite of the forbidden fruit.

Being the case... whenever I confront a snake around our house, I see it as a sober reminder to guard what's in my care...

... and I cheerfully make my way to the garage to get a garden hoe... or whatever else is necessary to fulfill my duty.

Of course...

Snakes are not the only thing that threatens our domains...

...with our domains including our personal integrity, homes, families, businesses, churches, communities, etc...

... and many of the threats we face are more subtle than any slithering snake...

... like certain ideas, doubts, and temptations.

The important point to remember is: whatever your place and calling may be, you've got some protecting to do.

Are you guarding your garden?
