More on 'follow your passion' ...

A quick follow-up to yesterday's email...

In it I pointed out that the familiar slogan 'follow your passion' is not great advice.

How come?

Because it tends to make you absorbed with fulfilling YOUR passion rather than building HIS kingdom.

So...

... does that mean there's no place for passion in your life?

No, not at all.

It's just that fulfilling your passion is not to be your grand objective in life.

Being faithful to God's call upon you is.

Now... here's the thing though...

As you are faithful with whatever God gives you the ability to do, passion normally follows.

So, passion then is a byproduct of commitment...

Consider Jesus:

When He took on human flesh and came to earth, it wasn't about following His passion.

It was about fulfilling His loving commitment to redeem the world through His life, death, and resurrection.

But...

... as He fulfilled this mission, it's definitely fair to say He was passionate about it.

In fact, the suffering He endured on our behalf is known as 'Christ's Passion.'

But to be clear, the passion followed His commitment to bring redemption.

And the same goes for you and me.

As we commit ourselves, by the grace of God... to love, sacrifice, work, suffer, grow, develop, etc... wherever He calls us, passion will come along too.
