For a number of
years I read a chapter of Proverbs every day.
I loved the practice but stopped because I felt like it was becoming stale.
Now I'm eager to get back at it.
The reason?
The Lord's been showing me again that I'm my own worst enemy...
... and that's what Proverbs was written to overcome.
A lot people will tell you Proverbs was written to provide training in wisdom...
... and that's true.
But to see your own personal need for that wisdom you need to take a closer look...
And see how
Proverbs shows us how to act wisely -- as opposed to foolishly -- in the many areas of life where we are our own worst enemies...
... areas such as: sloth, choosing your path, avoiding folly, setting traps for yourself, the use of the tongue... and so on.
The guidance Proverbs offers in these areas is universal...
... it
applies to everyone.
The President needs it. Our neighbors need it. Our families need it.
We all need it...
... if we are going to skillfully live out our kingly roles... in the domains God gives us.
So... if you're looking to quit being your own worst enemy... so you
can faithfully fulfill the purpose God has for you... do this:
Read, meditate on, and apply Proverbs.
