Christians tend to be compliant people.
And, most believers I know don't like to make waves.
So, though they may be alarmed to see our civil liberties slipping a way, they aren't inclined to do much to resist it.
After all, doesn't 'render unto Caesar whatever is Caesar's' require us to comply with whatever a government official tells us?
Well, at this point it's worth recalling...
The Apostle Paul had no qualms asserting his rights as a Roman citizen when he was being mistreated (Acts 16:37).
And, if the Apostle Paul had no problem demanding his rights be recognized, neither should we...
... especially since these rights give us the opportunity to uphold the truth, spread the gospel and advance the kingdom of God.
So, keep in mind...
In America, you have certain rights...
Including these five from the First Amendment:
- Freedom of religion
- Freedom of speech
- Freedom of press
- Freedom to assemble
- And Freedom to petition your government
Learn and apply these.
And if fear or conscience is hindering you from using them, just remember...
There are times when asserting your rights is one of the best ways you can love your neighbor (and your grandkids).
