This week we've been considering the big heart issues everyone wants fulfilled in life -- freedom, love, a sense of identity... and today: purpose.
Finding meaning and purpose isn't as hard as it's made out to be... because it flows from your identity.
In other words...
Having been formed in God's likeness, you've been made a certain kind of creature (identity)... to be able to do certain things in His world (purpose).
So He created you to think, contemplate options, relate to Him through prayer, and take action in the power of His Spirit in order to carry out His reason for your existence...
The Bible reveals this in its first two chapters when it says we're made in God's image (Gen.1:26) and called to be fruitful, multiply, rule and cultivate etc. (Gen.1:28;2:15).
It's all pretty simple, really.
So why do so many wonder about the point of their lives?
Sin and our dehumanizing age have cut us off from God... and taken away our sense of how He has specially crafted us and called us to rule this world for His glory.
Finding meaning in life begins by recovering these realities about who He made us to be and what He's created us to do...
... and then discovering how your own life can best reflect this with the gifts, opportunities and circumstances He's given you.
And this discovery takes place as we follow Jesus, who is the way of recovery for us.
