Yesterday we started looking at themes that touch the heart of every person in the world.
Today, let's look at another theme: love.
Like freedom, everyone is interested in love.
Yet there's a lot of confusion about it, because love is often reduced to a feeling.
But biblical love is much more than warm fuzzies... it involves choosing, sacrificing, obeying...
Jesus demonstrated this best when He took on human flesh, laid down His life and redeemed His people.
The Apostle Paul's life is also a great picture of what loves look like -- both in the way the Lord lovingly transformed him and the way Paul responded by devoting himself to loving, sacrificial service.
Paul explained his motive by saying it's the love of Christ that compels believers to live as Christ's ambassadors (2 Cor.5:14).
This imagery is helpful, because the more the culture ignores God, the more it's like living in a foreign land -- where we face the challenge of carrying on as Christ's representatives.
It's not an easy thing to do... but the love God gives us takes away fear, makes secure and supplies the power to serve in any hard place you may find yourself.
And it's as this love compels you, you play your part in showing forth the kingdom and changing the world.
