An infrequently thought of aspect of Jesus's ministry we'd do well to remember is His ascension.
According to the book of Acts, 40 days after His resurrection Jesus ascended into heaven (Acts 1).
And the book of Hebrews tells us upon His arrival there He sat down at the right hand of the Father... interceding for His people as His enemies are in the process of being subdued.
The ascension of Jesus assures us that in a seemingly out-of-control world, the Lord remains in charge.
And though evildoers may still have influence, the day will come when every one of them will be conquered.
So... though the death of Christ paid for our sins, and His resurrection secured eternal life, it's the ascension that gives us certainty God still rules in the affairs of men.
And remembering this allows you to live in peace, knowing history is unfolding just as He wants it to, and your labors for the Lord are never in vain.
'But when Christ offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet' (Heb.10:12-13).
