Did you see the story in the news this week about the woman attacked by a bobcat in her driveway?
What struck me most about the incident was the way the woman's husband sprung into action, peeled the beast off his wife, flung it across the yard... and then permanently dispatched it.
It was encouraging to see how this guy acted as a good man and husband should!
You see, from the beginning God designed man to be a protector.
This started with the command to cultivate and keep the garden of Eden (which, by the way, included guarding against any deceiving serpents).
Since then, every man's domain has expanded... and the threats have increased.
So these days the call on a man to protect involves more...
... like protecting the unborn from abortions... safeguarding children, neighbors and fellows citizens from lies about what is good and evil... and preserving our heritage from those who seek to dismantle it.
Unfortunately, a lot of men have become dull, lax even negligent when it comes to their protective role.
Let's hope the way this man delivered his wife from a bobcat inspires some guys to work on that.
It did me.
