Regardless of the way any particular court decision comes down, it's worth noting...
The threats of mobs and the presence of justice don't usually go together.
Consider the most famous example of this...
It's when a mob compelled Pontius Pilate to commit injustice against Jesus by handing Him over to be crucified.
There are other cases too...
Just read the book of Acts and notice how Paul and his companions were unjustly beaten and imprisoned due to the incitement of mobs.
For there to be justice, there needs to be a cool, impartial treatment of everyone involved, according to all the facts -- not threatening mobs.
So how is a regular person who isn't a judge supposed to apply this?
Don't get led astray in your thinking by the fervor of mobs.
By the force of their threats, mobs may get their way.
But that doesn't mean there's justice.
"You shall not be partial in judgment. You shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be intimidated by anyone..." (Dt.1:17).
