You've probably seen there are a growing number of cases where the state is intervening in the affairs of churches in the name of 'health.'
I won't go into all the details here, other than to point out this is a good time to remember the Bible gives the state a very limited role... namely as a minister of justice against evildoers (see Rom.13).
Pretty much everything beyond this is unwarranted meddling.
Unfortunately, in an increasingly secular society it's easy to assume the state has ultimate authority or the last word -- and anyone in a uniform giving orders must be right and obeyed.
But this isn't the case.
Only God has ultimate authority, and He's delegated certain limited authority to families, churches and states.
Now part of managing God's world well and extending His kingdom involves respecting the boundaries between these authorities.
And this means we may face times when it's faithful to resist the overreaching arm of a given authority.
This calls for wisdom and courage.
But when a society continues to cast off God's standards, it's definitely something to think about and be prepared to face.
