Have you noticed how much the Bible addresses the subject of fear?
I believe that's because God knows fear keeps us from embracing the calling He gives us at any particular time... and He wants to empower us to plow ahead into the fullness of life He has for us.
Just consider some of what His Word says on the topic:
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
1 John 4:18
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 34:4
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
Proverbs 29:25
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
Psalm 56:3-4
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Romans 8:15
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
Wow... it's pretty clear God doesn't want us living in fear, don't you think?
Now if fear seems to have a hold on you, how about trying something...
How about taking one or two of theses verses and meditating on it and applying it to your situation?
It might just change your life.
I wouldn't be surprised... because trusting the truth of God's Word is thee best way to escape fear's grip and carry out the mission he has for you.
