Nobody likes the idea of being humiliated, but get this...
Theologians have a special name for Jesus's coming to earth, taking on a human body and ultimately dying -- they call it His 'humiliation.'
This name is fitting too, as Jesus certainly had to go low and humble Himself to fulfill His mission to save humanity...
... and without His willingness to let go of His privileges as the son of God, there would be no hope of redemption for the world.
Jesus's humbling of Himself is worth keeping in mind as you consider fulfilling your own purpose.
It's easy to assume to make the most of life we have to exploit our position, hold on to all we've got, make sure everyone sees what we're doing... and all that.
But the irony is: following Jesus means we fulfill our God-given purpose by humbling ourselves and doing what may seem undesirable to the world.
In other words... there is a humiliation worth seeking.
Remember that when you face some unpleasing thing God may be calling you to do.
"Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant..." (Phil.2:5-7).
