In a day when many claim following communistic principles would make for a better, fairer America, it's worth noting:
Communism was already tried here and rejected by the Pilgrims nearly 400 years ago.
As stated by the Pilgrim Governor William Bradford...
... the sharing of "all profits & benefits in ye common stock," regardless of how hard each individual worked, was a failure.
Bradford further explained...
"The failure of that experiment of communal service, which was tried for several years, and by good and honest men, proves the emptiness of the theory of Plato and other ancients, applauded by some of later times -- that the taking away of private property, and the possession of it in community, by a commonwealth, would make a state happy and flourishing; as it they were wiser than God..."
The Pilgrim's failed experiment with communism should come as no surprise... as it violates God's commands against stealing and coveting.
And even more basic, it goes against His design for every person to rule and cultivate their domain under His blessing.
So let's give thanks we have every reason to confidently reject communism in our own day as we faithfully pursue the callings He gives each of us.
