I pointed out yesterday civil rulers have a very limited role.
They're not gods or saviors, but servants. Specifically, they're to serve as ministers of justice (Rom.13:4).
Their role is to protect the life, liberty and property of citizens... so the people can fulfill their God-given callings and advance God's kingdom in the world.
That's it!
Evaluating the fitness of candidates on this basis makes deciding who or what to vote for simple.
And these three basic questions are typically all you need...
1) Where does the candidate stand on abortion?
Candidates who are for abortion get the most fundamental aspect of their duty wrong -- the protection of innocent life. Never vote for them. They're clearly unqualified.
2) What's the candidate's position on the right to freely practice your faith, protect your family, and speak the truth without being cancelled?
A candidate's take on these issues will tell you all you need to know about how they'll do in fulfilling their duty to protect liberty.
3) Does the candidate favor more or less government intervention? And higher or lower taxes?
In considering this point, you can quickly know how much a candidate respects private property and intends to protect it.
Notice...
The answers to each of these questions will reveal whether a candidate sees their role as limited or one that allows them to play god in the lives of others.
Like, I said... if you keep in mind the biblically-defined, God-ordained duty of civil rulers, knowing who or what to vote for is easy.
