God has built into us what you might call a 'dominion impulse.'
In other words, we're born equipped with an urge to rule over things.
Because of sin, this drive tends to malfunction in one of two ways...
One is to become lazy. The other is to over manage.
An example of the first is binge watching television when you really have better things to do.
An example of the second is to meddle or seek to run other people's lives. (An extreme case of this is tyranny, which is the dominion impulse run amuck.)
As designed, our dominion impulse is a good thing. It helps us get up in the morning.
But this urge to rule needs to be controlled by the Spirit for it to work right.
