In his popular book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis wrote:
"Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy."
That's really a sad but true observation, isn't it?
It's especially sad when you bring it down to the level of the individual.
How many souls have spent their lives seeking happiness apart from God, without ever finding it?
The number must be staggering.
The good news is... Jesus came to reverse this unhappy history.
And the great irony of Lewis's quote is that though happiness is never found in living life apart from God, it's assured when we do life with Him.
"... blessed is he who trusts in the Lord" (Pr.16:20).
