Here's one of my favorite outcomes from COVID-19:
Getting to know neighbors!
Before we all got locked down, I knew my closest neighbors fairly well, yet that was pretty much it.
But the past few months have not only brought more people outside -- going for walks, even as families -- it has made them more willing to slow down and talk...
... allowing me to get to know more neighbors.
This is a very good thing.
The second greatest commandment is: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Mk.12:31).
Fulfilling this command presumes you actually know your neighbor.
In a culture where there's so much independence and need to be on the go, that can be a hard thing.
But our shared COVID experience has made getting to know your neighbors easier.
It still takes some effort. But it's definitely easier than it was before COVID-19.
So seize the opportunity to get to know who you can in your neighborhood.
