One of the things our whole COVID-19 experience has shown is how quickly things can change.
Take globalism.
For the past three decades the push for a global new world order has been all the rage.
The last few years has brought some turning away from this, but the pandemic has really put the kibosh on empire building -- giving a greater role to individual nations, states, counties and local communities.
I see this as another positive outcome of the coronavirus.
As you look at the Bible... from God's smashing of the Tower of Babel onward... He doesn't look too keen on globalism (Gen.11).
And being one who marks out boundaries, He seems to prefer a more decentralized way of developing His world (Acts 17:26).
This makes sense too...
Given the reality of human depravity, leaving control of the planet to a small group of world-builders is dangerous and leads to totalitarianism.
History proves this over and over.
But with authority and control more dispersed, it helps prevent power-hungry monsters from enslaving humanity.
Not only that...
A more local emphasis also encourages everyone to rule and cultivate their own domain using the gifts the Spirit has given them.
And God has used COVID-19 to push us in this direction... which is really good news.
