Americans seem to be packing on the pounds during Covid-19.
One study shows 75% of people have gained weight during the pandemic.
Reading this made me think of the time when the disciples were urging Jesus to eat something.
He responded by saying, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work" (Jn.4:34).
So what's this have to do with gaining weight during our current shutdown?
Well, when people have their work or routine disrupted by factors outside of their control, overeating can be a way of coping...
... particularly if they're stuck at home with the fridge nearby.
Yet if you're able to maintain your sense of calling in the midst of changes, you can stay focused on the responsibility you believe God has given you -- rather than food.
So whenever something disturbs your routine and makes you anxious, keep discerning what the Father is calling you to do at the time.
He always has something for you to be working on.
And a good sign you're working in that calling is you don't mind missing lunch.
