Everyone loves the idea of freedom.
But enjoying and preserving freedom depends on faithfulness.
God created Adam with an enormous capacity for freedom.
And all Adam had to do to experience that freedom was trust and obey His Creator.
But Adam failed to believe and do what God told him.
He went his own way, making himself and all humanity ignorant, guilty and impure.
Yet Jesus -- as a second Adam -- came to undo the mess the first Adam made.
And when we trust and obey Jesus -- as Adam was supposed to do in the Garden -- God restores our freedom.
This applies to both individuals AND nations.
Freedom requires faith.
Without faith men plod along in bondage, darkness and fear.
But faith sets them free to see and live out the Father's good design.
So even today we're commanded to believe (1 Jn.3:23).
"... where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Cor.3:17).
