While some in the streets are agitating for a revolution, what we really need is a reformation.
Revolutions aim to upend the existing order. Often with violence.
Revolutions also tend to offer nothing constructive to replace the old order.
So in their anger, they typically leave a lot of destruction and misery in their wake.
But reformations are different.
Reformations acknowledge corruption, defects and failures... and they're sincere about addressing them.
Reformations also begin not through upheaval, but with repentance... and a hunger for truth and righteousness.
And then, with renewed hearts and hope, reformations labor to rediscover God's laws for living... and apply them with grace to our culture's ailments.
If our land is going to experience healing... and build a society where there's justice and truth... we need a reformation. Not a revolution.
