Typically we commemorate three major events in Christ's life -- His birth (Christmas), His death (Good Friday) and His resurrection (Easter).
But we tend to ignore another significant event -- the day Jesus ascended to the right hand of His Father (Ascension Day).
Yet this is a day we ought to remember, because it confirms Jesus's position as Lord over all creation... and it reminds us of His rule and authority over every government and person alive.
Some prefer to forget this truth because it reminds us of our need to live for Him -- and perhaps this explains why we don't commemorate Christ's ascension.
He really is Lord of our lives!
Yet recalling Christ's ascension is a great source of comfort to those who trust Him because it assures us we're not waiting for Him to become King.
He is already the King and ruler over all... and He's in the process of conquering evil and establishing His kingdom today.
