Ever notice Jesus's habit of going to His Father?
It seems like He was always turning to Him.
Sometimes it involved getting off by Himself and praying (Mt.14:23).
Other times it was by way of simple, short prayers like "Father, forgive them" (Lk.23:34).
But whatever the situation, it was His pattern to seek out His Father...
... especially as He faced the demands of faithfully living out His calling in this world.
Note this well in the stressful times we find ourselves today!
When we face trouble and anxiety, we're inclined to turn to so many different things...
Some of them helpful... some of them not so much...
- worry
- food or drink
- exercise
- television
- surfing the internet
- an addiction
- checking the latest news
But what if we made a habit of going to the Father?
There's nothing like it to bring the peace and rest we're all looking for...
... and He would lead you to whatever help you need.
After all, the Father knows your needs before you even ask Him (Mt.6:8)!
Not only that... this is something you can do and work on during this time of social distancing -- wherever you are!
Father, help us make it a habit to turn to you as our first resort in all we face. And as we do, grant us your peace and confidence so we would manage our lives -- and whatever you've given us -- in a way that pleases you and advances your kingdom. Amen.
