I remember reading this bit from history a long time ago...
Those who fared best in Nazi concentration camps were those who ruled over their circumstances as much as possible.
Though they were prisoners, they weren't passive.
They took control of their thoughts... they nurtured their attitudes... they determined to treat others humanely... and they took care of the few feet in which they were imprisoned.
I know this example is extreme, but there's something to learn here.
God created us to rule and cultivate... and we should keep doing that no matter what situation we may find ourselves.
So though your routine may have been upended, bring it into submission as much as possible.
And seek to set up and rule your new routine with purpose, love and hope for the future... knowing that God is working out His own all-wise plan.
So much is out of our control. And there's so much we don't know.
But as God's image-bearers, there's much we do know and can do.
Attend to these things.
You will be blessed -- and be a blessing to others -- as you do.
But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded
(2 Chr.15:7).
