Jesus tells us finding life in His kingdom is like going through a small gate.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many" (Mt.7:13).
We typically take this to mean we find eternal life not in following the way of the crowd but in following Jesus, wherever He may lead.
True enough, but we can say more.
The gate the Lord calls us to enter may be very specific to our circumstances... requiring particular kinds of sacrifice.
These circumstances can make you feel like you're being squeezed through a tight spot. A spot with no way out. And where you feel really alone.
We don't like being in such spots.
But going through them with faith, love and sacrifice is where the Lord meets us.
And it's in such places He works through us to advance His kingdom... often in ways unnoticed by anyone but Him.
