A couple weeks ago the president of Brazil -- a Christian -- declared that Brazil belongs to God.
And he isn't the only world leader who acknowledges Jesus Christ as the true ruler of his nation.
Hungary's current president has been very outspoken about the Christian foundation of his country.
And awhile back the president of Zambia announced he was entrusted to rule a Christian state.
The secular world may object to these pronouncements, claiming they cross an imaginary line of neutrality.
And even American believers may see such explicit claims for Christ from government leaders as unusual.
But this is the kind of thing we should pray for... and even anticipate.
After His resurrection, Jesus commanded all the nations to be discipled -- not just individuals (Mt.28:18-20).
The Bible also looks ahead to the day when, “All kings will bow down to him and all nations will serve him" (Ps.72:11).
And another verse reveals Christ's rule of nations as a present reality: 'For dominion belongs to the LORD and He rules over the nations' (Ps.22:28).
So when you hear of government leaders claiming their nations for Christ, don't think it odd.
They're just seeking to be faithful to what Scripture says... in their area of calling.
And more leaders will take this position as the failure of secularism becomes more apparent.
May the boldness of these leaders encourage you as you seek to be faithful over your own domain.
