When it comes to the subject of vision, we're usually encouraged to think big.
The bigger the better, the thinking goes.
There's even a popular quote that says, "Regardless of how large, your vision is too small."
But after talking with a couple of friends, I realized a big vision might not always be best.
If you're buried in problems and struggling just to survive, a large vision might be inconceivable. Or too daunting.
If that describes your situation, make your vision smaller.
Get a clear picture of something simpler and more accessible.
For example, if conflict in your marriage is keeping you from envisioning much of a future,
try and get a picture of what a better marriage would look like, and move toward it.
Then once you start to see that vision fulfilled, a larger vision will tend to emerge.
Faithfulness in smaller things prepares you for larger ones (Lk. 16:10).
