Yesterday I spent some time with the doctor who invented orthopedic stem cell injections.
He's an admirable guy with an inspiring story.
He began 30 years ago specializing in rehab and pain management... and along the way just kept learning and seeking better ways to help people.
Then finally he came up with a way to take someone's own stem cells, concentrate them, and inject them into a place of injury... relieving suffering and restoring functioning at some pretty impressive levels.
Now to devise this sort of procedure takes some definite qualities, like...
-- curiosity
-- a willingness to explore and investigate
-- an expanding base of knowledge
-- a commitment to achieve something practical
-- and a dedication to persevere in the service of others
It may seem like these are extraordinary traits.
And in a way they are... especially when you find them all integrated in one person.
But... these qualities ought to appear at some level in anyone who wants to fulfill their calling.
You might even consider them essential...
... because as I see it, you can't reach your God-given potential if you don't have a hunger to learn and grow and apply...
Yet no worries...
You don't have to be a doctor or an inventor to possess these qualities.
You just need a desire to maximize your gifts... for the good of others... as you labor to faithfully play your own part in carrying out the dominion mandate.
And if you seek God's grace toward this end, these traits will become yours.
You can be sure of it... because they're part of being a fully-functioning image-bearer of God.
