Did you know before starring in the Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life, Jimmy Stewart served as a pilot in WW II?
He was a darn good one too.
He spent 20 months as a B-24 squadron commander over Germany, and retired as a two-star general.
After the war, Stewart suffered from what today we'd call 'post traumatic stress disorder' (PTSD).
Stewart also had a hard time finding work as an actor... and even wondered if someone who had known the horrors of war should spend his time performing on screen.
Fellow actor Lionel Barrymore -- who played Old Man Potter in the movie -- put that thought to rest by asking Stewart:
"Isn't entertaining people better than dropping bombs on them?"
From there Stewart went on to pour his nervous energy into the making of It's a Wonderful Life...
... and those who worked with him noted his experience with battle fatigue and shell shock brought out the tension, passion and ultimately joy that made the movie such a hit.
Stewart's story reminds us how important it is to pivot from one life situation to another.
Because no matter what kind of flak you've taken in life, God still has something for you to contribute.
And... all that you've endured from the past can even prepare you to bring your best gifts to the world today.
It really is a wonderful life.
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13).
