Yesterday I stopped by a job site in town where one of my sons is working on a new restaurant under construction.
He's a craftsman and has been doing some metal work on the project.
When I saw what he's made, I was amazed by its quality and beauty -- and I couldn't help but feel a littler fatherly pride.
As I drove away I thought about how pleasing it is to see someone -- especially your son -- do a job with competence...
... and it got me thinking...
One of the more overlooked ways we serve God is to bring competence to our work.
It doesn't matter what God calls you to do... getting good at it makes a difference when it comes to serving others and glorifying His name.
"Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men" (Pr.22:9).
