In the book of Acts the early Christians were accused of having turned the world upside down.
This perception came about because they were defying Caesar and following another king, named Jesus (Acts 17:6).
From this we learn when believers are faithful, they're likely to upset the status quo of the surrounding unbelieving culture.
The temptation, of course, is to play nice and conform to the ungodly norms that are being foisted on us.
But we're not to be conformed to this world.
Rather, we're to be renewed... and be a renewing influence on those around us.
And that means sticking to the words of King Jesus, even though it may cause some offense...
... not in an obnoxious way, but in a way that shows forth the glory of God's design for the world.
So, for example...
In our culture today there is this big push to remove any distinctions between male and female.
In fact, this push has been so effective there are many confused souls who don't know if they're a male or female.
Though the pressure is great to accept this situation as normal, we're not to comply.
We're to remember... "male and female He created them" (Gen.1:27)...
... and we're to hold fast to the distinctions of what it means to be a man or a woman as God has ordained.
In fact, here's a little homework assignment...
If you are a man, double down on working out your calling and design as a man...
... by being a visionary, provider, cultivator and protector.
If you are a woman, amplify your efforts that flow naturally from your design as a woman...
... by being a life-giver, nurturer, helper and completer.
And do these things to show forth the glory of who God made you to be.
And enjoy yourself doing it.
