I went to a funeral over the weekend for a faithful man of God.
I know a lot of people hate going to funerals, but being there reminded me of the verse in Ecclesiastes that reads:
"It is better to enter a house of mourning than a house of feasting, since death is the end of every man, and the living should take this to heart" (7:2).
Going to a funeral is not fun like going to a party.
But it gives you gifts a party never will...
It forces you to consider your own mortality and eternity.
It stirs you to make God's kingdom and His righteousness your chief concern.
And it reminds you that what your friends say at your funeral is being shaped by the choices you make today.
In other words...
Going to funerals can get you seeking God's grace like nothing else...
... and prompt you to walk in that grace with whatever time you're given.
